Wow! What a great book! I fell in love with Elmer. What a brave man to leave at the age of 78. This book is very thought provoking and interesting to read. I highly recommend this book to any and everyone!
There are so many layers to "Elmer Left," that I found myself pausing every once and a while to take it all in. Very thought-provoking and insightful book. I definitely recommend it to anyone who ever questions their place in the world.
This is an insightful book from such a young author. Leibfried's strengths include her power of description and character development. She made me want to know more about Elmer and find answers to these questions From what was he running? How had he been hurt and by whom? Would he find what he was looking for?
She was able to bring out the full spectrum of emotional response from this reader, from deep sadness to laughter. The use of 3 religions showing the weaknesses of each and their power over the individual was a poignant message of how the masses can be preyed upon for personal gain.
The main message of Elmer's journey, his 'coming of age' is one of hope for readers of any age. It's never too late to follow one's dreams.
I can't wait to see what Ms. Leibfried writes next.
I loved Elmer left. It had my attention all the way through. The characters became so real. I didn't want the adventure to end.
I am looking forward to Kate's next book.
This is a very well written book and gives you a lot to philosophize about. I generally read fantasy books with lots of action in them so this is out of my usual realm of pleasure reading but I genuinely enjoyed this book. It did get a little slow for me occasionally, but only because I generally prefer action and fantasy filled books. Overall this is a very well written book with a wonderful message that everyone can benefit from.
